Let's Get Cookin'
Join me at Westlake's prestigious cooking school, Let's Get Cookin', as I teach you the fool-proof method for making the very best grilled cheese sandwiches. You'll get to taste each sandwich, but that's not all. Because I insist on using great American cheeses, I want you to be able to taste those cheeses in their natural form. And so you will. But wait, there's more! What is a cheese class without wine? I'll be pairing both the cheeses and the sandwiches with wine. It'll be up to you to decide which pairings work the best, but what a fun task it will be.
This regional pigfest is a series of events that take place around the country throughout the year. Each event has 5 chefs, 5 pigs, and 5 winemakers and culminates in the Grand Cochon in Aspen. Call it the Grand Pig Event of the Year. Judges taste the ten chef finalists' pig dishes and decide who gets the award of King of Pork. I was a judge last year and all I can tell you is that yes, it's a pigfest, but what a way to burst at the seams.
Food & Wine Classic at Aspen
June means it's time to once again return to Aspen for one of the most stunning events and settings anywhere on Planet Earth. It's a wonderful time of year, and the Food & Wine Classic is really tops when it comes to food events (and yes, I'm talking about the Top Chefs running around there, too). I'm happy to be on stage for two seminars.
The first is devoted to the delicious grilled cheese sandwich and wine pairing. I'll be presenting four great sandwiches from my latest book Grilled Cheese, Please and showing how to best pair wine with this oooey gooey and decidedly tasty platform. I'll also be showcasing the spectacular cheeses that will be in each of the sandwiches in their unmelted form.
For my other seminar, Spanish Cheeses and Wines, I'll share the stage with Food & Wine writer Kristin Donnelly Together, we'll play matchmaker to the great cheeses and wines of Spain for amazing tastes and fun.
Please join me and some of the Bay Area's best food artisans to celebrate the 6th Anniversary of one of America's best cheese stores, Cheese Plus. Not only will we be celebrating a great cheese store, but we'll also be giving grilled cheese a nod too! I'll be there signing my collection of books, including my newest, Grilled Cheese, Please!. A sandwich recipe from the book will be featured as the daily special at Cheese Plus's Sandwich Cafe, so bring your appetite and gear up for a day of cheesy fun!

Pebble Beach Food & Wine
I am thrilled to be returning to this spectacular event located in one of the most beautiful places on earth. This is always a star-studded affair, and this year's event is no exception. As for my role, I am excited to be giving two seminars this year.
First, I'll be doing grilled cheese and wine pairing where we'll enjoy sumptuous sandwiches along with the spectacular wines that the Pebble Beach organizers always manage to bring in. My cheese and wine seminar will be equally exciting because I've been teamed up with the fabulous folks at Domaine Serene to do an extensive cheese and wine pairing. You're going to want to make your plans soon because this event sells out - as well it should.
2nd 8th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational
Don't ask what "2nd 8th Annual" means. I can't really tell you. But if you were one of the 8,000 people that attended the Grilled Cheese Invitational last year, then you know what's in store. Utter wackiness and goodness all in the name of grilled cheese. If you weren't there last year, then start making your plans now. You won't be sorry. Details are sketchy right now, but they'll materialize soon.
The Fork Culinary Center at Pt. Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company
Talk about a packed, fun-filled day, not to mention a great way to spend Tax Day. Wow. We'll begin the day with a tour of the fantastic Pt. Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company farm. We'll meet a few cows, see the many steps the Giacomini family is doing in the interest of land preservation, We'll then retreat to their spectacular new facility called The Fork, where we'll devote the rest of the day to all things cheese, primarily in its grilled form. But of course, that's not all. We'll also do wine pairings with the cheeses and with the grilled cheese sandwiches too. What was that about tax day??
Tyler Florence Shop
I'm very excited to be firing up the grills at this iconic TV star and chef's store north of San Francisco. Rumor has it that Tyler himself might be there, but either way, we'll have fun cooking and eating grilled cheese sandwiches. Of that you can be sure.
Beecher's Handmade Cheese
Stop by this world-famous all-in-one cheese shop (you can see the cheese being made through their street-front window!), get some of their world-famous Mac 'n' Cheese AND, of course, one of their delectable grilled cheese sandwiches, and come say hi to me. I'll be there signing Grilled Cheese, Please! but mostly taking in the sights and smells of this bustling place that serves as an homage to all thing cheese.
New Day Northwest
I'll be talking grilled cheese and grilling up sandwiches for the hosts and the entire audience of this great local television show. If you're in the Seattle area and want to come to the taping, please let me know. Otherwise, please be sure to catch it live or for the die-hard grilled cheese fans, feel free to DVR it!
Beecher's Handmade Cheese
Few places make me happier than Beecher's Handmade Cheese, so to do a grilled cheese and wine pairing class there puts me over the moon. While the class itself won't be in the same place as where they make and sell their Beecher's Flagship Cheese or their world famous Beecher's Mac 'n' Cheese (that's right down the street) I promise we'll have a cheesy evening anyway.

Grilled Cheese Grill
I will be joining Portland grilled cheese master Matt Breslow for a book signing at his newest PDX location -- a double-decker bus. (For those of you who have been to his original location on NE Alberta, you know that you dine inside a decommissioned school bus after you've ordered from the camper-trailer.) Come order his famed Cheesus Burger and buy a book with that very recipe in it. I'll sign the books, and I'll bet we can convince Matt to do so too.

Books, Inc. is the West's oldest independent bookseller, and I always see and hear from some of the smartest people here. I'll give a talk and tastes of grilled cheese sandwiches. Stay tuned for more details about this special night. All I can say right now is come hungry!

I always have so much fun visiting and shopping at Omnivore Books on Food. What's not to love? This Noe Valley store has quickly become a classic, with new and vintage cookbooks on every topic you can imagine. I'll talk about my latest book, Grilled Cheese, Please and even have tastes of grilled cheese sandwiches!
Grilled Cheese and Wine Pairing
Finally, going to school is enjoyable. Or at least it is when grilled cheese is the subject. In this class we'll cover all the grilled cheese basics and then some. We'll taste sandwiches from my new book, Great Grilled Cheese and the cheeses that are in the the sandwiches in their unmelted form. We'll then pair the sandwiches and the cheeses with specially selected wines. You be the judge whether or not the pairings work. Hint: they will!
5th Annual California's Artisan Cheese Festival
I'm thrilled to return to one of my favorite cheese events all year and hope you've made plans to be there too. As always, Saturday is cheese education day and consists of seminars and lots and lots of cheese. Saturday night is a cheese, food, and wine extravaganza. This year's will be especially fun because I've been paired up with the folks from Cypress Grove Chevre to make grilled cheese sandwiches with their spectacular cheeses. All who come will get tastes of the sandwiches and get to wash them down with the magnificent Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine. Sunday is Marketplace day where you'll get to taste cheeses, local wines, beers, and other locally-made food products. The experience fills all the senses and satisfies any cheese-hungry person's appetite.
As for my two seminars, I'll be bringing back "Cheese Essentials," which is comprised of a tasting and a lesson about the eight styles of cheese. As a bonus, I've paired the cheeses with three of the most amazing wines made in Sonoma County: the 2009 Migration Russian River Chardonnay, the 2007 Russian River Lynmar Pinot Noir, and Fortress Vineyards Finale. This seminar will give you the knowledge to confidently face the cheese counter on your next shopping outing and some ideas for the wines to go with your cheeses.

Oregon Cheese Festival
This once-a-year chance to meet the spectacular Oregon cheesemakers up close and personal is one of the best events all year for cheese lovers. You spend the day talking to the cheesemakers and tasting their cheeses. In other words, what's there not to like?
